Ceramic

There is a limit to the size of ceramic containers as they become much heavier as the diameter increases.   There are some ceramic planters that are suitable for smaller trees, however.   The weight of the plant container reduces the risk of it being blown over in the wind although if they do blow over, it‘s likely that the container will be damaged.

If you like ceramic style planters but want reduced cost an alternative to ceramic is ceramic style GRP (glass fibre). GRP planters are available in larger sizes than real ceramic making them ideally suited for trees and large shrubs.  Other natural finishes are easily reproduced and it ‘s difficult to distinguish between the GRP container and the real thing.
